This is probably the 50th time I took time out for the fiesta, and this ritual has attracted a new breed and hordes of devotees. The fluvial parade snakes around the town for at least 2 km. See the wonderful pictures.

Bike caravan that started and finished at Angono Rizal; organized by Orville Tiamson
Ang Uno sa Lahat
Rizal Philippines November 13, 2016
En route to finish line at Wawa The main street of Angono in front of the municipal hall was blocked this morning. Reason, about hundreds or thousand riders of all types, roadies and MTB were waiting for the starting gun for a fun caravan ride that would cover Angono, Binangonan Cardona, that would cover 26 km. Entry fee is P350 (there must be a thousand participants) They wore green and white jersey (green is fluorescent) I joined the caravan on the way back from Binangonan to Angono. I overtook it though at Tagpos The pace is slow but there is a lot of jockeying to be at front of peloton from every body. PUSO MC riders led the group and there were 2 ambulances that supported the ride.
Near Island Gas at Calumpang
There must be a thousand of them

Photo study of Angono Catholic and Municipal Cemeteries this Undas

The Angono Catholic Cemetery
The Angono Catholic Cemetery = nice arch entrance and monuments
This post had the opportunity to study and make comparison between the Angono Catholic and Municipal Cemeteries. The Catholic is ahead in infrastructure planning, cleanliness, organization and is inching its way up the ladder closer to the memorial park. Their lawns which have alleys back to back is an improvement over Holy Gardens. They too have a CR.
The municipal cemetery has improved its entrance and observed the setback. It seems that the management is hell bent on improving. But it will take a lot more money and time.

Remembering Angono Greats

Lucio D. San Pedro (daughter Cristina at the background)
This post having not much to do visited the graves of some of the Angono Greats. Notable are Carlos V Francisco (for painting and murals) and Prof Lucio D. San Pedro (for music) They placed Angono at the national level (made Angono famous) But it seems no one seem to care and remember. The folks have now embraced different heroes and icons. They are interred at the Catholic Cemetery where they occupy two separate mausoleum
I also visited the mausoleum of the 3 generations of mayors all surnamed VillaMAYOR. Domingo, Vivencio Jr. and Aurora; They are interred at family mausoleum at Angono Municipal Cemetery
She fmr Mahyor Au was mayor before the incumbent now

Angono, the Art Capital of the Philippines must generate more income from sales of native products or art works
Ang Uno sa Lahat
Rizal Philippines
September 10, 2016
This post earlier noticed that Lukban is both a destination for religious event, and for a shrine and food items
I guess the current campaign for branding and positioning of the town must generate income and employment for our townsfolk and many more events
For instance: for being the Art Capital, we should have more public sponsored art schools, exhibits here in Angono that draws in tourists. We should have more art work in exhibits in public places (art galleries stunt the work of artists) We can have facsimiles for sale and even mass produced art work of art students. It should not generate good name for the town but cash, for the hungry stomachs
Simultaneously we can have the DTI OTOP Or products created and sold by entrepreneurs: to cite some: there are burong isda in pampanga, mga kakanin, the Cebu lechon, and many more. Marikina is drawing lot of visitors no longer because of shoes but great place to eat. The munisipyo must encourage more entrepreneurs. Cainta has been famous for latik and suman. What about our town?
Fried itik was a success. The support seemed to have lost steam.

Benchmarking Lucban for Inclusive Growth
Ang Uno sa Lahat
Rizal Philippines
August 31, 2016
We biked to Lucban last August 28-29 and since this was a two day sojourn, we happened to observe the town more closely. While our town, Angono has excelled in publicizing the town as art capital of the Philippines, the results have not been inclusive. The progress and growth has been in the image of the town and personalities of the artists.
However in Lucban, the fiesta and its tourism drive has resulted in more livelihood and income of its townspeople. The kamay ni Jesus, the pahiyas have led to many people selling delicacies, pasalubong, hats, etc thus increasing their income and possibly that of munisipyo.
Lucban too has solid tourist attraction that draw millions to go to Lucban. We too have fiesta but the traffic jams it has created and the vendors the tiangges have not created new jobs and employment for local people.
Perhaps, a realignment is needed. Some funds can be realigned to having handicrafts, pasalubong, delicacies, food stuff manufactured in Angono? We have the fried itik as a success. Where are the other innovation?

Endorsement for Angelo Louise (Gelo Homigop) up ang coming visual artist of Angono
Ang Uno sa Lahat
Rizal Philippines
April 28, 2016
This post would like to introduce Gelo Homigop one of the up and coming visual artists Angono (although he lives in Pedro Cruz Tayuman - in an area that caught fire 3 weeks ago) but his friends and colleagues in the trade are mostly from Angono. He spends his free afternoon at Angono Wawa Eco Park. He was student of Orville Tiamson before in the subject visual arts.
Gelo is a finalist at Shell Art competition for this year. To spend his summer vacation (he is still studying) he does painting, and sells them. And can do portrait sketches in under 4 figures. (3 figures only)
Please contact him directly, pm him for commissions/contracts. I understand, after just recent sharing he got eight contracts for portrait.

The alternative candidate made the debate at the St Clement Church happier

April 28, 2016
I was informed by friends and relatives about the debate town hall meeting for the mayorables of this town at the St. Clement Parish. The third candidate, Mr. Fuentes gave strange answers to questions that were posed. There were lot of laughter for some of the answers given.
We advised him not to attend or if ever go with advisers. But he wanted to say something from his mind and heart and so he went on his own.
But he did mention some of his platform: fair wages for municipal employees (do away with volunteer level pay) respect for elders and ladies, doble zero basura. He forgot to mention Gear Up.
The comment of most of the observers is that he made the debate happy and memorable

Positive results for the candidacy of the third candidate - DOBLE ZERO BASURA IS HIS PET PROGRAM
Ang Uno sa Lahat
Angono, Rizal Philippines
April 2, 2016
The admirers and disciples of the 3rd mayoralty candidate of this town met again this afternoon (as it used to be doing for the last 90 days) and observed reported the following;
1. There is a growing consciousness and awareness on the very credible candidacy of the person being supported. So many likes at social media: blog and fb; and only after a date of publishing. More likes are to come. This is certainly drawing attention from the incumbent and his followers and paying attention to the news about this candidate
2. There is a new addition to the cabinet, an ex military man, who whose expertise is intelligence He will be a great asset to our candidate. This would seem to be weak link in his organization (Another disciple joined Ka Pepe Cristobal a retired educator (he may fill in school board representation)
3. Our candidate reiterated the following:
1. Respect for women elderly, the disabled
2. No dirty tricks
He does not want municipal employees and officials to be engaged in the following:
vices, illegal collection of fees, such as toll, market vendors, stalls, non remittance of water
collection fees by certain units to the detriment of residents; mulcting, extortion, drugs
3. Non acceptance of financial aid from : relatives, kingmakers and even foreign entities whom he said have supported his advocacy for flood control, despite this weakness - lack of logistics. He said his supporters are from federal and includes royalties and heads of states at EU
4. Just and full wages for workers in the munisipyo. Less or 0 volunteers so that everybody who works get full salaries and no petty grafts like mulcting and extortion especially for market employees/collectors and traffic enforcers.
5. Doble zero basura: this means less trips and less operating expenses for solid waste management. This is his counter punch to the 0 basura of the incumbent (which he said does not actually happen. There is still plenty of basura.) Let us learn more in next issues. on what is doble zero basura. PANALO!
Doble kayod; doble effort to have doble zero basura.
Doble Zero 00 basura sa bagong mayor
Mabaho madaming basura when the incumbent took over
Zero basura MRF facility of the Municipality
Isnt it time we see something basic and new for a change.
The 3rd mayoralty candidate supporters/future cabinet just learned that there is money in material recovery/recycling ops of the solid waste management. The mismanagement in the partihan of the MRF proceeds actually caused the defeat of an incumbent mayor in a neighboring city. We are not privileged how this happened

In our conversation with the third candidate for Mayor, Jojo Fuentes has coined the motto "Gear Up" Angono as its battlecry for his credible campaign for mayoralty of this town for 2016 (vs keep moving
He has disdained money, goons, corruption, and abuse of women and minorities in his program of government. Like Duterte, in case of funding from business, relatives and his foreign supporters would come in he would refuse them.
He has seminal ideas on his platform of govt:
