Bridge construction in Angono resumes; to be raised 0.5 meter higher

The bridge construction in Angono, Rizal has resumed and the current beam is to be raised 0.50 meter higher.  The office of the mayor has announced that it has intervened that the bridge construction be modified.

The alteration has been done to accommodate the numerous "experts" comment the much thicker beam will block the river and cause instant flooding.

Believe it or not, the beams will be raised one end after one another by mere two ordinary bottle jacks, each one with rated capacity of 25 tons.

It rained very hard last night and early this morning.  It was mala Ondoy in intensity and volume and I was afraid there would be flooding.

There is a current trending on the new Angono bridge being constructed.  Some say that the new beam are thicker and taller and hence will impede the flow of water much earlier and cause flooding?

The retort is that the river would have to be dredged constantly;  some say the design is flawed and should be corrected.

What do you think?

There is an ongoing bridge construction in Angono poblacion.  It is causing a lot of inconvenience for commuters, jeeps and vans passing from one part of the town to another.   On the other hand, the tricycles are having a grand time fetching passengers from the town to the highway where the ride is easier.  The causes of criticism are:

1.  The bridge construction is taking such a long long time, adding further to the inconvenience;  (the contractor had the beam made in site rather than buying those that are pre fab)

2.  Many pundits are criticizing the beam which is much taller than the former one (hearsay) and may block the flow of water and cause flooding.  by maybe 1.5 to 2 feet? (sorry I did not take the measurement;  again it is a hearsay)
