3rd showing of Balaw balaw restaurant and Angono at Lifestyle

Angono Rizal   PHL   May 18, 2013

Today, at about 12:30 to 1:30 I saw the third showing of Balaw balaw at Chefescapades of Gino and Gene Gonzales at Lifestyle network.

The feature, which ran for more than an hour told a lot/mouthful about Balaw balaw and Angono.  It is a great honor to be featured in such a network

Other churches/congregation in Angono, Rizal

Angono, Rizal  PHL   May 18, 2013

There are increasing number of other churches/congregation in Angono.   The most notable although not a very big church is the church of Mormons, which we visited  this morning.  We were allowed to use the grounds for badminton.  One of our co workers is a member of the church.

Balaw balaw featured at Chefscapade at Lifestyle Network

Angono, Rizal  PHL   |  May 17, 2013

I watched last night a replay of Lifestyle feature  on Chefescapade on Balaw balaw.  There was a lot of interview with Luzviminda Vocalan the widow of the late Perdigon Vocalan by Gene and Gino Gonzales (GGG)

It is nice ot know that there are a lot of TV features on Angono.

Luzvminda, whose brother is a priest, told that the restaurants attracted many tourists to Angono.  The chefs agreed that you learn much from the locality/town through the food.

Chefscapades feature on Rizal begins April 25, 2013

Angono, Rizal   May 16, 2013

Repost from Rappler on Angono elections

Here is a post from Rappler as of today, 12.51 that shows the winner of the local elections.

Mayor is Gerry Calderon  -  19, 381 votes

Vice Mayor is Sonny Rubin -  14,688

Joanne Saguinsin leads the councilors with 16, 782 votes, closely  followed by Sherween Lagaya who  just behind by only 700 votes. Joanne is the scion of fmr Vice Mayor who lost in last elections for Mayor.  It is not a clean sweep for ruling party;   Bernie Guir did not make it to the top 8 councilors.  Kuya Bryan Cruz was the lone candidate from the opposition who made it,

The ruling party, incumbent leads in election result - 9 - 1; no proclamation yet

Angono Rizal   PHL   | May 14, 2013

The candidates of the incumbent have taken a commanding lead a sweep of the local elections.  Initial reports has indicated that the councilors of the current mayor swept all the positions 7 -1;   there are unconfirmed reports of protest at Comelec by the opponent of the winning candidates; so there is no proclamation yet.

They are always saying that in the PHL, there is either a winner or candidate cheated.

Congratulations to the winners and may we have  a good government in the next 3 years;   a better and more progressive, clean Angono

Election day day May 13, 2013, the picos machine was working

Angono, Rizal  PHL   May 13, 2013

The poll assistance center located in front of University building

Today marks midterm election to elect the LGU officials:   Governor, Board Member, Congressman
Mayor and councilors, senators and Party List.

The congressman has no opponent and how we wish there were opponents.  In the past elections, they had no chance.  So may be they just gave up.  Popular candidates and wealthy families dominate the election.

The crowd was big in the precinct located in a university system building.  As a senior citizens, we were given courtesy and priority.   It took me less than 2 minutes to fill up my ballots.  I did not vote many because I think they do not deserve to be voted.

However there were plenty of news at the TV where the ficos machine did not boot, lacked batteries etc.  I hope there would be no failure of elections

                                   Throng outside the precincts

Where is our precinct?  The usual problem

The waiting area;   as seniors we were priorities

The polling place inside the precinct

The ficos machine looks like the mounting is a garbage receptacle?

Voters have to personally insert the ballot at the ficos machine

                                       Hmm, one of the candidates?

Tourists flock to Angono to view artefacts

Angono, Rizal  PHL  May 11, 2013

Despite the school vacation, tourists, mostly students flock to Angono to view art works and other artefacts.  The downside here is the narrow streets of Angono that are not conducive to the large and many buses that transport the tourists.

I have suggested that the influx of tourist is an opportunity.  More livelihood programs/business can be set up to get  a share of the tourist money:    food, pasalubong, souvenir items, paintings, sculptures etc.

What are your ideas?
